From our 24h game this weekend, my Pionier Unterscharführer impression:

- M35 helmet with rubber foliage band
- M43 HBT tunic, badged up for the Unterscharführer rank and in Pionier waffenfarbe
- left assault pouch, containing about 3-4kg:
* 2x 1kg smoke charges (for marking enemy positions for air strikes)
* toolkit for rifle repairs
* bottle of sunscreen lotion
* box of matches as backup for smoke charges whose detonators failed
- 30cm compass saw, tucked into belt loops of left assault pouch; made short work of several tree branches over the weekend
- right assault pouch, containing:
* set of binoculars
* bakelite fuse container, with more matches
- gas mask container strap, running from right shoulder to left hip
- bread bag strap, running from left shoulder to right hip; contained our section's medical supplies
- Bar10 rifle
- (Sturm) Dot44 trousers
- Bundswehr gaiters
- SADF ankle boots
(kit hidden behind back: A-frame with mess kit and sleeping blanket; breadbag; canteen; frog with bayonet)

...and then some Brit officer who wanted to negotiate a surrender. I politely suggested that he use my saw for some aggressive colonic irrigation.

Looks good!

Nice team pic :)

Actually looks a bit 'ardennes' was it snowing or is that just 'noise' from ageing the pics?

Stopped by a surplus store in Galveston, TX today - the place was a goldmine. I found Pattern 37 webbing and foreign camouflage (a rarity in Texas, where "surplus" stores seem to only sell Chinese-made garbage, MOLLE gear and used U.S. Army ACU shirts and trousers...).

Most interestingly, a size 40R (my size) British BD jacket for US$35!

Here's a photo:
-- attachment is not available --

Also, the only marking I can find (on the inside front left of the jacket, near the bottom)
-- attachment is not available --

They were selling Dutch and Greek BDs (in retrospect I should have bought the rest) - and this jacket was the only one specifically marked as "British". I'm no expert, but for $35 it was difficult to pass up considering the WPG repro BDs are $200 for a set! Can anyone identify this jacket? I trust these guys as they generally seemed to know their stuff (a lot of surplus vendors here misidentify stuff on purpose...)

Edit: Realizing now that the bottom pic clearly has Greek letter "sigma"! What a moron I am to think this was a British coat. Oh well - from what I have heard, they were nearly identical.

Also, picked up two British denim BD jackets (1953 dates), two US M43 jackets, and some Pattern 37 and 44 webbing. All in all a good day's work.

the greek ones are the same pattern only the shade is different, slightly darker greener colour.you still did ok on the deal and unless you stand next to the correct colour then you'r fine.

Must be my lucky weekend. Visited a hipster resale store in downtown Houston with my sister, and found a pristine BD jacket (size No.2) with a date of 1955.

For US$8.95!

As far as I can make out, the label reads:

Blouse, Battledress, Serge
1955
Size No.2
HEIGHT 5'3" to 5'4"
BREAST 34-35

I wear a 40 otherwise I'd keep it, but I know there are some younger guys on this forum so would be more than willing to pass it on to someone who could use it.
